Force and Beauty is BACK!

It is back-to-school time at the Marvel Academy, bringing with it much excitement, piles of books, and countless new school supplies! Force and Beauty has gotten its annual cover redesign – I hope you like it! You’ll notice that one of the new cover features is the inclusion of an overview of the material included for the month.

During the 2022-23 school year we will focus on one poet a month, so you will find a small selection of poems included to study and/or memorize. September has us studying and reading poems by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. You can find a biography and the majority of his work HERE. Ambleside Online also has a page devoted to the poems of Longfellow that you could read all month!

During the month of September, we will be singing one of my favorite hymns AND a kid favorite folk song about a chivalrous shark. It truly is a hilarious tale! The hymn, folk song, catechism, and civics questions change each month. We are reading The Merchant of Venice during our first term, giving us a variety of fascinating quotes to think about and perform. The Gettysburg Address is our inspiring patriotic speech and you’ll see various bible verses from Deuteronomy throughout the fall.

Check out the overview page in the preview below for a full list of all the included parts.

The Arrow and the Song (Longfellow)

The Castle Builder

The Village Blacksmith

The Ladder of St Augustine

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (ESV)

Heidelberg Catechism, Lord’s Day 1
